One For the Road

~JB, Blog a Day, Hot Starbucks Coffee to awaken myself from the 1:23 AM Game finish- Julian, I’ve seen enough already

That’s right. I stayed up way past my bed time to watch the Braves game last night because I love them THAT much.

Part of me is glad because I got to see the Braves offense come to life and put 9 runs across the plate. And I also got to see Mike Gonzalez pitch who, with the exception of one appearance, has been rather enjoyable to watch. But the one thing that I would’ve gladly missed would have to be Julian Taverez’s first 1/3 inning as a Brave.

Now I understand he probably won’t last the season and when Manny Acosta and Jeff Bennett are healthy again, he’ll probably be re-released. And I also understand that he came in with an eight run lead so maybe last night was an experiment. But the way our ball games have been going, I’d rather Professor Bobby didn’t tinker. Call me pessimistic but the way we play on the road I wouldn’t want to endanger a 20 run lead even if it is the bottom of the ninth. I know we’ve only seen a little from Taveras but after last night’s performance a little is more than enough. I mean the guy gave up a hit to Andruw Jones. Doesn’t that tell you something?

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Brian McCann, both of the Marks, Esco, and Jair Jurrjens (now 9-4!) had a good night. The only blemish on Jurrjens’ night was the 3 walks but 6 K’s (only one of them was Andruw’s) and only one run given up make up for it to me.

Teixeira’s lone hit was a homer and Esco’s only hit in 5 AB’s was a 3 run double so I can’t complain about RBI’s. What was actually really nice to see for me, was Kotsay having a 3-4 night and I am hoping for even more production from the outfield.

Surprisingly though Chipper did not get a hit and Frenchy did. Draw whatever conclusions you may about Francoeur’s lone single and whether that made the Mississippi trip worth it. Maybe if he goes 7-13 with Atlanta we can reassess.

Tonight our other 9 game winner goes out for his 10th win against Derek Lowe.

Until 10:10pm think about this.

Who’s hated more right now… Andruw Jones in LA or Frenchy in Atlanta?

  • I think the LA fans have reason to hate on Druw because of his huge contract, but Golden Child Frenchy shoulda stayed in Mississippi. No way he’s back to “normal” after mere *hours* there with Wellman.

Would Frankie Wren have brought him back up if they were still playin’ at home with the boo birds? Doubt it.

  • Neither. Everyone has a fresh opinion on Frenchy now that he’s back from AA and the Andruw just came off the DL so Dodger fans don’t know that it isn’t just a slump.

  • To be fair Frenchy has not gotten the same treatment Andruw has gotten in LA but Jeff’s comments irked some people.

AJ is getting paid much more than Frenchy and makes Jeff’s struggles look like nothing.
