It’s good night to be a Braves fan.
The Braves bats didn’t do much beyond McCann’s 2 run homer but the story of the night is the complete game shutout from Huddy. We couldn’t have snapped the little four game skid at a better time. It’s a new month, a new series, a new homestand and even though Smoltz may have to come out of the ‘pen, Huddy’s performance against the Reds is enough to restore some faith in the starting rotation.
9IP’s, 0 BB’s, 10 K’s, 3 Hit’s, 0 ER’s and a HUGE “W” to start May.
About as close to perfect as you can get and now the Braves are 1-0 in May in two run games.
It’s a good night to be a Hawks fan.
And excuse me while I pay a nod to the Boys over by the CNN Center as I enjoy this one for a moment.
Hawks 103- Celtics-100. Game 7 in Boston coming up on Sunday
I’m not asking for anyone’s forgiveness as I tag team this post between the Hawks and Braves. The Hawks have been the talk of the ATL as of late and even though I’m a baseball fan first ( and this is BravesBlog…) I’ve got to send it up for the fellas as they’ve done something nearly unthinkable. Everyone who thought this would be a walk in the park for the Celtics have been suffering from Jawdroppititis (not a real word) as the Hawks have forced Game 7 tonight.
The number 8 seeded Hawks somehow shockingly racked up another playoff win against the heavily favored Celtics. They’re playing like an entirely different team in the electric Philips Arena. Although they have yet to play like that in Boston, this has been incredibly fun for me to watch. And it marks the first time in a long time I’ve watched the playoffs in Atlanta in the middle of Spring. I can’t believe it! Go Hawks!
Keep Choppin’ and you might as well keep on Flappin’ too,
JB in ATL

JB this is just a weird night man. Huddy was close to a no-hitter tonight, I didn’t even realize it. But they always say it’s a different game in the post season and the Hawks are showing that is so very true.

You’re right, man. It was just a fun night to be rooting for the home team that night. A three hit shutout is just what the DR. ordered for our beat up starting rotation.
Too bad we couldn’t get that win in Boston but I’m very proud of the boys for the way they put the heat on the Celtics.
